I must be nuts. I'm actually considering building the YAS spitfire for FS9 using Gmax!!!! I've obviously got some "good" models under FSDS2 and would like to save as much as I can. I've gone thru the FAQ and the links.... There' seems to be an issue transferring with .dxf files re maintaining details etc.
Has anyone moved a detailed model across? What's the down side? loss of animations only? etc

You'll loose animations, texture coordinates and most likely some parts will get havoch.
Smoothing groups have to be started over.

I've had no problems using the CVA converter to convert an FSDS model (or parts) to dxf for import into gmax. Like Mathias says, no texture assignments, animations come over and the mesh comes across unsmoothed.

Is there any sane reason (other than FSDS2.24 doesn't recognise CFS3 or FS2004) why a model made in FSDS won't work in either of these two sims??
Are Abacus looking to update FSDS to cater for these sims? Anyone know??

CFS3 models use an entirely new format.
It's by decision of Louis to not support CFS3.
FS2004 should work though (minus the latest bells and whistles) unless there's a faulty export or something
