There should be a parts thing somewhere. The people could make a part, say an engine, and upload it there, and other people with less talent can download it and use it, with the appropriate credits. just a though

Freeflight design have an "adopt a design' section and also accept uploads of projects.
I think the issue is with the designers, until a user momentum is achieved they tend to keep their own collections. having said that, some parts are not to easy to modify for other aircraft etc etc, so they tend to be unique.

Yeah, FFDS has a great selection of parts available.  Check them out...  :)
