What do you wish to edit in the MDL file? AIR files can be edited with AirEd from the Aircraft Design section. This is not always necessary for normal purposes. Most of this work is done by editing Aircraft.cfg in Notepad these days.

You could open the MDL file in a hex editor but it would look like a load of gibberish. It wouldn't be possible to add a DVC by manually editing the MDL file. You would need the original source file & the same 3D modelling program used to create the aircraft.

It's the original code that the initial programmer used to build the plane.
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.

This is the SimV "Orphan" files page. http://www.simviation.com/adoptfsc.htm
Source files for various unfinished projects are posted here. You can download them either to finish off or practice on. You would need either FSDS or Gmax to work on them.

Maybe you should check out a few threads in the Aircraft Design section. FSDS is payware. Gmax is included with FS2002 Pro. If you have FS2002 Standard edition you can download it here. http://www.discreet.com/products/gmax/
