texture problem on rudder

Postby Moach » Thu Jul 01, 2004 1:08 am

hi there

i'm having an odd problem here...

my plane has developed the tendency to reduce the texture quality on the rudder to zero, and i find myself constantly having to go to display settings to "remind" flight sim that texture quality is still high...

if i tweak the global texture size to high or massive the rudder goes back to normal, but it's very unstable and every now and then it reduces my beautiful rudder texture to shmoosh :P

i had this problem before on other aircraft, but never cared too much because they weren't mine ::)

does anyone know what to do about this?
is it the texture or is it an FS bug?

Hmmm. Do the textures appear distorted or off color? Sometimes that happens when you create a vert. stabalizer from a tube and move the cross sections back from the part center axis, to form the slant of the stabalizer. I don't know a fix for it. At a guess I would say after building the stab recenter the parts axis to the part. If that does not work. You may have to distort your texture to match the slant distortion on the part. Try creating a texture template for the part and laying the texture inside the lines. All suggestions are guesses I hope this helps.

no, the texures are not distorted, they just sometimes have a significant decrease in quality in FS

i'll show you...

this is the normal look of the rudder

and this is the problem:

as you can see, it's only the rudder texture that gets blurred, the others are fine... so it must be a probblem with that particular texture

i suppose it might be a mip issue, but i'm not sure...
any thoughts?

Brazil obtained a Spitfire for its museum, donated by Rolls-Royce.  Has anyone seen Ozzy in Brazil?

Highly suspicious, eh?

It happens to me on some planes. Usually Alpa based textures. It is down to my Gfx Card, and im suggesting this cos i know you run the same one as me.
To fix it in game make sure you leave it on VC mode for a few seconds before going to that exterior view.
Im getting a new Gfx Card tomorrow hopefully so i will report back whether or not it is just the card on not.

ant

ps, ive pm'd you.
