What are the SDKs?

Postby Scottler » Fri May 28, 2004 2:25 pm

Okay, I'm not new enough to not understand that it's a Software Development Kit, but I'm still green enough to not understand what they're used for.

Could someone explain that to me while I once again embark on my journey to learn this godforsaken skill?  Thanks.
Great edit, Bob.

Hyperion
The SDK's are for people that use scenery design or aircraft design programs to name a few. It gives them the necassary information as to the format needed to make their programs work,
In other words if you wanted to make a weather theme if you look in the weather sdk it will tell you how to go about doing that.
Although some people read them so they can better understand how FS does what it does.
But most of the people who use them are sotware developers. As some of the information in the sdk's are quite techincal.
Hopes this helps I am not a expert on the subject but I use to be a computer programmer. 8)

Yep, that's what I was wondering.

Unfortunately, no matter which tutorials I read (and I've read most of them numerous times), I always end up stuck with either a cylinder (most recently a box) and no clue where to take it from there.

Sigh...I'll leave it up to the good guys.  I'll just fly 'em.  lol

When I first decided to try my hand at design, I went into it thinking "Okay this is going to take a while."

But after a year, I'd really like to think that I know more than how to build the aforementioned box and cylinder.  lol  But alas, I don't.

It's just so much easier to click once to get my plane.  lol
