You know what sucks?

When you spend two hours totally redesigning the fuselage for the plane you're working on, forget to save the thing and FSDS crashes so you have to start all over.  >:(

That's what sucks...

Hi
But whats going to make ya real mad is this :(
-------------from help file------------------------------
There is another built-in feature that may help you should you encounter a computer or other problem while working for extended periods of time with FSDS. This is the Autosave feature.

As you are designing and modifying your project, FSDS monitors your activities. If you do not perform a File | Save or File | Save As within a 10 minute duration, FSDS will automatically make a backup copy of your project. If you look in your main FSDS folder, you may find the filename autosave.dst. This is the backup copy of the project that was last saved.

If you want to use this backup copy, please follow these steps:

make a copy of the file autosave.dst to xxxxxxxx.fsc where xxxxxxxxx is a name that describes the original project

move the file xxxxxxxx.fsc to the folder where your original project is located

start FSDS, select File | Open and choose xxxxxxxx.fsc to work with the most recent backup copy of the original project

We hope that you never have to use a backup copy of your project, but remember that "it's better to be safe than sorry".

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its saved my bacon a couple of times:)
Regards
MaV

Now I am looking in the help file and I cannot find ANYTHING about autosave for the life of me.

This line here has me a bit confused, can you explain it differently?

make a copy of the file autosave.dst to xxxxxxxx.fsc

What version of FSDS do you use?
I beleve that the auto save was a feature introduced in v2.

What AuMaV means is, in the main FSDS folder you may find a file called Autosave.dst (if your version supports autosave of course). Simply rename this file to any name you like as long as the extention is renamed FSC.

e.g. rename Autosave.dst to recovered.fsc.

Then just use file open and browse for the fsc file you named.

All you should have lost at the most is the last 9 minutes 59 seconds of the last thing you were working on

Regards
