Hovering aircrafts

Postby Lablabla » Fri Mar 19, 2004 8:11 pm

Hi,
I'm working on the F-35B for FS2004 and the F-35 is a stovl (Short Take-Off and Vertical Landing) and as one, i need to make him take off and land vertically, like the good old Harrier, how can i do this in FSDS V. 2.20

thanks,
Carmel

It doesn't matter what modelling program you use, FS doesn't model true STOVL/VTOL characteristics.

*Most* Harrier models that I've seen use high lift settings on  the flaps.

It's all done in the flight dynamics.

Design the whole aircraft. Then make the Aircraft.cfg file (or just borrow a Harriers) and make the changes necessary to it. You have to have a BIG engine and you will need to make the flaps create INSANE amounts of drag and lift.

I downloaded a sea Harrier and when I put in the VTOL, the aircraft goes dose first in the ground. I get the idea of how to change the flap settings. But what would be a realistic setting for the flaps.
