Hammers Slammers Panzer 8NEED HELP!*

Postby Hellhound » Mon Feb 09, 2004 9:45 pm

well, i have this hovering tank i made and was wondering how i could make it look like it was hovering. i want it to rock, kind of. because things on air cusions arn't neccisarily perfectly flat at alltimes. and i want it to settle to the ground when i turn the engines off. oh, and i got the idea from the Hammer's Slammers books Panzer tanks

One of the Colonel's 170 Ton Panzers wouldn't rock when up off it's skirts.... :)

To answer your question though:

Which sim?

Anything after CFS 2, you could have a gear compression animation. Have one gear rock the model side-side and the other front-back.

Please post a pic. :)

its 2k4. it's not done yet. it has the fans though. combat cars might rock a little though, but that's my sext project. i need to make the interior (any volunteers?) of the driver's compartment and the turret. i still need to make the hole for the turret hatch, the tribarel, ect.

The Viper in progress is a Viper from Battlestar Galactica (Original Series and BSG 1980)...

I won't comment on BSG 90210 :)

Combat cars rock...that's pretty clear from the books. Combat cars can also cross smooth water...where a panzer will just sink.

Post us  a pic of the Panzer :)

Not bad. :)

You should check out these sites for ideas...they've made wargaming models of Slammers vehicles.

http://www.salute.co.uk/slammers3/index.htm
http://www.oldcrowmodels.co.uk/hammers.htm

You can see from http://www.david-drake.com/faq.html that Old Crow Models is more on the track of what David Drake had in mind.

David Drake himsef said the ones for the first arn't what he had in mind (nice models though. but the reverse skirts would lessen the ground effect. i've experimented with the idea. it also makes it unstable) and as for the skirts, i do need to work on them too.

hehe... take a look at this:

[quote]Dear Mr LeClare,
That's a hard one. I rode tanks and knew what they could and couldn't
do. Tracks are a bitch but wheels aren't an answer. I postulated better
power sources (as Verne did for submarines) and thereby fixed the
obvious problems, then got on with writing the story. All best,
Dave Drake
