canopy error

Postby Risky777 » Sat Jan 31, 2004 11:43 am

Hi all!

I'm having trouble animating the canopy door.
I'm getting a, "node canopy has a scale applied and must be removed before export" error.

Why is it doing this?  Can anyone recommend a good tut on canopy animation??

Thank you!

Ahh...yes, the dreaded "Scale-Applied" thingy.

It's simple.

Just select the object that has been animated and go to the Hiearchy tab in Gmax. Then click on "Effect Pivot Only". And finally click on "Scale" that is located at the bottom.

Do this to every object that you animate. This is also useful whenever you are adjusting the pivot and all of a sudden the object distorts its shape as you rotate the pivot.

Hey Katahu!   Good to see ya again :)
Ok...I did what you said...and that fixed the error when exporting...but the part still wont seem to animate in FS
I've tried both tags, "canopy" and "f_canopy"
When I hit cnt e in the sim...nothing happens.

f_canopy is the proper tag for exterior models and f_canopy_vc is the proper tag for interior models.

Note: If you need to use a tag more than once, than make sure that the suffixes have an underscore before the number.

Ex:

It's "rudder_01" not "rudder01" [without the quotes]. I don't know why it has to be this way, but as long as it works, it's alright with me. ;D

rudder.1 also works.  the important thing is that FS recognizes the specific tag "rudder".

What some people do is tag a dependent part (say  a rudder horn on a WW1 plane) as rudder01 or rudderhorn, that way it appears near the rudder in a sorted part listing.
