Colors/Textures Not Showing on Parts (Newbie)

Postby VF2_Tim » Thu Jan 08, 2004 10:43 pm

Modeling in fsds for cfs2.

My plane is as finished as it is going to get.   What a humbling experience.

Have copied all necessary files to a clean and freshly loaded version of cfs2 to make sure that when I send plane out to others it will work.

Am having two problems:

1.  Parts that are texture mapped show up fine.  But parts of plane that were assigned solid colors and textures in fsds (i.e. reflective steel gas tank and solid brown color on pilot's cap, etc.) don't show up.  These parts show as  default modeling grey.  What files did fsds create that color/texture these parts and where do I find them?

2.  The working guages in the virtual cockpit aren't showing up.  The entire panel is showing as  modeling grey.

Both issues above worked fine in the version of cfs2 that the plane was created in but they fail to work in the 'clean' version.  (confusing...I know.  what I'm doing is simulating how my plane would load onto someone else's computer.  hope this makes sense)

Would much appreciate any help on these two issues.

If anyone is interested in receiving my plane, let me know and I'll send you a disc.  My email address is:  allmixtup@earthlink.net.  Be warned that this plane is sort of cobbled together and held by bandaids.  As this post indicates, I don't know much about the endgame and tying up the loose ends for distribution.  I'm a newbie and it's my first plane.  It is an offbeat pusher/tractor hybrid (WWI Bi-plane) that I designed myself.  Not much to look at but it was made with love.  For a first effort, it ain't too bad and I'm sorta proud of her.  Wanted to do more with it but ran out of time and figured it is best to send it out as is instead of never sending it out.

Sorry so long and rambling.

Thanks

Hadn't spotted the posting - but then, when it appeared I was quite busy in RL.

Once thing to consider is that you *may* have transferred 24-bit textures when making your new spawning.

He's right VF2, if you're going to export to CFS2 you should have the image converted to DXT1, you can do this with "Imagetool" which should come with CFS, Hope this helps
