S-3 Carrier

Postby Hellhound » Fri Jan 16, 2004 2:57 pm

The s-3 carrier, codenamed Hellhound is my latest project. it is about 204 meters long, and that's only about 75% of the entire thing. it has 192 guns in 96 pairs, 8 flight decks, and is basicly a giant steel blimp. ny s-2 is modeled for use on it, but it's not done yet (yes, i am doing 2 projects at once) and it is going to have around 200 guns of what i have now and about 100 anti-aircraft mounts (400 guns) it's enough to lay seige to a city! without it's aircraft!

well of course! i'm trying to hit them!

First the cars made by me, than the tanks made by Hagar, NOW a giant steel blimb with nearly 200 guns made by Hellhound. ::)

What's next? ;D

LOL

I knew FS is very flexible.

BTW, I think it's a good addon to have and probably fun for FS. You can use FX files to make the bullets and such. And you can animate the guns by linking them to the controls or such.

Here's another idea.

Make one model to be used as scenery so that the flight decks can be used. Then make another model to be used as a flying aircraft.

It's possible to have a flying flight deck as scenery because in FS98, there use to be a scenery addon that places an alien ship over New York and it has a landable flight deck big enough for a 737 to land in. The alien ship is a replica from the ones seen in the movie Independance Day [starring Will Smith].

It's really fun to have a nice armored blimp flying around as scenery and landing on it. ;D

I have my ideas about cars as well.

Hey, maybe my car ideas could work for your blimp ideas as well. ;)

That's the rub - the Bolo series of self-aware tanks were developed from the late 20th century series of Main Battle Tanks.  The first Bolo Mk.1 was developed from the Abrams, adding enough AI to allow it to be monitored by only two crew - basically a commander and a helper.  The first fully automated Bolo was the Mk.V, developed in 2025 that had a limited self-programming AI to allow it slight tactical variations in a predetermined mission plan.

By the time of teh Mk. XXV, ca. 2315, it had developed into a planetary defense system, capable of being left alone in continents of the smaller planets...

As of yet, no reliable schemes/plans have been found for the Mk. XXV.

No drawings of a Bolo...nuts.

I've already built a Battle 'Mech so a Bolo (any Mk, but I like the higher #'s such as a Mk XXX) or one of Hammer's Panzers wouldn't be a stretch. :)

Found this though: http://www.jade-leaves.com/kepper/bolo34/bolo34.html#

A side view of a Mk XXXIV :)

By one of the authors of the new Bolo stories...a reputable source I guess.

I can contribute a 300 meter wingspan airborne assault staging platform.

I'll have to look in my science-fiction library, but the Bolos come from a series of very entertaining short stories.

Just like Hellhound, I have my own sci-fi favorite. This one is just made up. ;D

The Battle Platform: 28 ASA Guns [Anti-Ship Artillary], 44 radio-controlled fighters, 4 medium-armor magna-plates, 2 heavy-armor magna-plates, upper flight deck, 2 lower [and concealed] flight decks.
Image

The Manga-Plates [magnetically powered] are usefull against attacks from large bombs and missiles. They are not directly connected to the ship and they shift and change position so as to provide maximum protection.
Image

However, the Magna-Plates are useless against heavy attacks from fighters because they move too slow to prevent the fast-moving enemy fighters. So, 28 ASA guns are used to provide enough protection against most fighter.

It hovering-capabilities of its powerplant makes it an even more dangerous weapon. When the ship hovers over land, its powerplant releases a fast and serious series of powerful pulses that enables the ship to hover. The Pulses are a weapon because they produce enormous crushing-pressure over anything the ship flies over.

Hehe. How our imaginations can run wild. ;D

Hey hellhound, can that blimp of yours take on my Battle Platform? LOL ;D

if only i had cfs! then we could put them in that and have them go against each other. ine might be able to beat yours, because of it's fighters and almost 200 anti-everything guns and 200 anti-aircraft guns... but they arn't going to be shown on the model (they take up to much damn space!) and i think it could. the battle would be close though.

In CFS, is it possible to have weaponry fire at different angles on an aircraft?  Such as having a gun turret on a bomber?

If so, several of you could design different aircraft that operate on a blimp airfile system and then play out wargames, like the navy does with submarines . . .

I think that would be really interesting, especially to see in screenshots or videos. :D

For the edification of all, the Bolo series was started by Keith Laumer...who is no longer with us.

Mr Laumer is also responsible for the Reteif novels and stories.
