G-MAX help with workspace

Postby beowolff29 » Mon Dec 01, 2003 12:34 pm

can anyone with GMAX give me a hand on the initial setup of work space?
here's what happens: trying to do the P-38 tutorial... tried to do the BOX workspace that it recommends. not working... when i start building the plane, everytime i go out and come back in, the blueprint views are screwed... if i line the plane model up with the blueprints in the top view, they don't match the blueprint view in the left or front view! doh!

how do i set up a workspace view on ALL three views so that the model will stay aligned with all three of them? the way it is now, if the wing is lined up on the top view, it's an inch to one side on the front and or left view!

it's almost as if the three views of the P-38 pic arent the same scale or size.

is there a better way to do this?

thanks for any help.

Yes, there is a better way.

In fact, the "accepted"  way to do this is to map your backdrop images to appropiate planes, and lock them in place.

There are several tutorials on the matter, including one by X_Eidos  (who goes by the pseudonym "John Mackay".  Check his tutorial at the Freeglight Design Shop's Tutorials Section  http://www.freeflightdesign.com

PS - the P-38 tutorial's views are also set up wrong.
