Engine Startup Smoke Problem

Postby VF2_Tim » Sun Oct 12, 2003 9:16 pm

???

Had to offset engine start up smoke for a pusher plane.  Was able to get majority of smoke to appear to come out of mid-plane engine.

However, some wisps of smoke are still emitting from the front of the plane.

Here is one of the troubled emitters:

[Emitter.0]
Lifetime=3.00, 3.25
Delay=1.2, 1.5
Bounce=0.00
Rate=10.00, 10.00
X Emitter Velocity=0.00, 0.00
Y Emitter Velocity=0.00, 0.00
Z Emitter Velocity=0.00, 0.00
Drag=0.00, 0.00
X Particle Velocity=-1.00, 1.00
Y Particle Velocity=-1.00, 1.00
Z Particle Velocity=-3.50, -2.50
X Offset=-0.45, -0.45
Y Offset=-0.05, -0.05
Z Offset=-4.00, -4.00

Can someone please let me know what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

I may be wrong,but I think it is affected by engine locations in airfile,and/or cfg file.

I had the same problem when I was doing the startup smoke for my beloved FS2000 Concorde model. If you look at the [Particle.0] section, there are X, Y and Z offsets there as well, so that you can have the emitter offset to get particles to come from somewhere else - and then particle offset to change that again!

So check the particle offset figures to make sure that it's not telling parts of your programming to come from somewhere else. Usually it's a conflict between what the two sets of offsets are trying to do. Let me know if the problem persists, and I'll post what I did to fix it.
