Canopy cover animation

Postby ajver » Sun Sep 21, 2003 10:38 am

I am building an SB2C-3 Helldiver (FSDS.2) with forward and rear sliding canopy covers.  I have animated both with keyframe commands f_canopy and r_canopy.  The problem is that in FS2002, I am using SHIFT+E for the exit and it only operates the front sliding canopy cover.  I can get the front and rear covers to slide simultaneously by designating the rear canopy as f_canopy.1, but I want to be able to move them separately.  It is really a problem of setting a command in FS2002  --  but what ?

Can somebody help please ?

Im no expert at canopies sorry but I can give the following help. Have you tried SHIFT+E+2? if you have and that didnt work go into the Aircraft.cfg and look for the following

========================================

[exits]
number_of_exits=2
exit_rate.0=0.4                               ;Percent per second
exit_rate.1=0.4                               ;Percent per second

========================================

That was taken off the default 737-400 but you need to make sure you have your noe (number_of_exits=2)

And your exit_rate.0
              exit_rate.1 to the time that you want it (in seconds for delayed opening or opening time (something like that)

Good Luck

Thanks very much nwt.  I am glad to find somebody who are also not an expert.  I must admit that I have overlooked the .cfg file.  I will look at it immediately.
Thanks

Not entirely on topic but in case you get the same problem I did a while back, it might help to warn you now that sometimes smoke effects stop secondary door/canopy animations working.........

Just thought I'd warn you!

Remember - the neat thing about flightsim design, when you get right down to it, is NOT whether gWax is better that FSDS, or whether you can jump the hoops better with 3DSMax, Rhino....

Hello HABU.  Yes, you are right  --  operation of the secondary door results in all kinds of funny things.  For example, the zoom control is gone !!! :o
