Another problem as I go on..

Postby Erez » Wed Jul 30, 2003 4:10 am

I'm in the process of refurbishing and getting to higher standards of my Lavi model.
I need help with the MeshSmooth.
When I do the meshsmooth the part looks good, but when I'm getting out of the MeshSmooth option the part returns to his original shape.
How do I save the MeshSmooth look? ???

Hi Erez,

I think the problem here is not many of us know what "meshsmooth" is.

I presume it's a Gmax feature for turning on the gourad shading, to smooth the shading on adjacent polygons, but as I don't use Gmax, I'm really not sure.

Perhaps if you re-phrase your question, and give some more detail, one of the Gmax users in here can render some assistance?

Sorry I can't halp you out pal  ::)

Thanks Ric. :)
I don't know what alse to say.
I just use MeshSmooth on an object I want to look better. All the gMax designers here know what it is, but the question here is how to make the Meshsmoothed part look Meshsmoothed, while - for example - selecting another object.

Erez,

I just did a search and can only find one tutorial for "meshsmooth".

It's for modelling a body, so I'm not sure how useful it will be to you, but take a look: http://www.comet-cartoons.com/toons/3ddocs/bodymodeling/index.html

Let us know how you get on!  ;)

Not sure if this is on the link ric provided but i think you need to have the meshsmooth modifier above any other modifiers in the hierarchy, eg, from the bottom up: editable mesh --> uv unwrap (or whatever you use) --> meshsmooth.

Hope this helps
