XML gauge for jet smoke

Postby HABU » Sat May 24, 2003 3:22 pm

Yet again I am baffled!!

I've downloaded one of the freeware jetsmoke packages and I'm trying to tailor it to the project I'm working on.

I have kept the file names all the same and copied and pasted the code yet the smoke only still appears when pressing the 'I' key........

Any suggestions?

I copied and pasted the gauge line into the panel.cfg, copied the .fx into the effects folder and added the lines into the aircraft.cfg smoke system section. What could I have done wrong?????  ??? :(

HELP me I'm going insane trying to figure this out!

There should also have been an .xml gauge included in the download. You will need to make sure that you have a folder created within the gauges folder, and then make sure that the .xml file is in that folder - otherwise it won't work. For example, if the line in the panel config reads something like:
gaugeXX=smoke1!smoke2, 0,0,1
then you would need to make sure that there is a folder called 'smoke1' in the gauges folder, and a file smoke2.xml in the smoke1 folder. Now the smoke should work automatically as the throttle increases. As a check, the 'I' key won't activate the smoke.

I don't have the download you mention, but have programmed my own .xml gauge to do this, and it works fine. Please let me know if the problem is not fixed.

Good luck!
:)

Thanks microlight!

I created a folder with the xml gauge placed within it in the gauge folder but for some reason I can't get it to work!! I spent about 4 hours yesterday with no success!! Lets see what happens today!

Do you still need to have the effect file refered to in the smoke system for it to work?

Thanks again for your help! Once I have this mastered I'll attempt to get some other effects working!!
