Mhmm, have your fun boys, but lets review

Benchmarks that have been released since the chip has been released
http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu.html? ... &chart=170

And again price
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819103757
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819115002

Again Conroe is the winner. So now what AMD boys? You bashed me when I orrigionally bought a 550J Prescott. You bashed me when I sat and got excited when Conroe was first being talked about. But the reality is its here, its the best, and you dont have to like it, but you should atleast agree that it is infact the best.

Cheers

AMD sopposidly had to increase the voltage from there aim: 1.1volts to 1.4volts to get the wanted speed out of there 65nm chips. Wonder if this is true ;) Ouch.

Conroe can do it at what? 1.1?

I dont think Conroe is a bad processor. But I do think anyone who goes out and buys anything right now is wasting money.

one of the reasons I really hate intels because their processors are really awkwardly named so you never know what exactly your getting unless you take a close look at them, unlike amd which is quite simple (i think) though intels conroe is FAR cheaper than the fx 62 so it'll get a lot more sales but why buy now instead of waiting 3 or 4 monthsuntill the price falls even more.  ;)

AAHHH you know what, there is no problem with getting an X2. wait, dammit! I need a 939... this is a perfect ebay time! i can find a 939 for cheap! i dont wanna hear about benchmarking and crap like that, cause its not like i have the money to turn to intel (and i wouldn't do it until after vista anyway) or go to AM2. i ran vista on a 3200 with a radeon X1300 512mb and no problems. I was around 3 1/2 -3 3/4 on the performance scale.

(im doing this to stir controversey :P)

Thank you candle, now you can go back to winvista secrets ;)

I'm just screwin with ya. However for the same price as your precious 4400+ x2, you can get a E6400 and motherboard to match. Who wins there, you do.

And Ramos, why are you slandering the good name of the company that is giving you free Wifi? 8)

Cheers

I'm afraid I'm going with Cameron here :D

Did the old CEO get fired or something? Because now they're making a new line of processors every 2 years. Pretty neat.
Netburst is like what? 6 years old?

so for the same price as a 4400+x2 I could have a processor that i've never heard off and no nothing about, and its name doesnt give much away either.

Yeah, except a good 939 mobo costs $90 to $150, but a Conroe mobo with the same features will be $200 to $300.

I'm up for an upgrade right now, but Nick N is right. It's best to wait for the hardware actually MADE for DX10 (and Vista, o'course!). Graphics cards, CPUs, the likes.

Like Nick said, any upgrade now is good money wasted.
