FPS help

Postby South » Tue May 23, 2006 9:48 am

I have a serious problem with FPS, I have most of the settings below the Mid range, and I *guess* i have a nice system...but usually only get about 13-15 FPS.  :o
Hardy ever do i see it go above 20 FPS :( (and thats usually when i'm not around an airport) The only thing in my system that acts slow is FS9, everything else is like a "hot knife through butter"

So I am asking you all, what should I do to get better FPS...I'll even settle for 30 FPS if I can.

My system specs:

Emachines T6520
Windows XP Media center Editon SP2
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3400+ 2.29 GHz
1.37 GB or RAM
ATI Radeon Express 200 Series (not sure sbout that one, its just what it says on the case :P )

Thanks in advance!!

You need a good video card for FS9.
ImageMainboard: Asus P5K-Premium, CPU=Intel E6850 @ x8x450fsb 3.6ghz, RAM: 4gb PC8500 Team Dark, Video: NV8800GT, HDD: 2x1Tb Samsung F3 RAID-0 + 1Tb F3, PSU: Antec 550 Basiq, OS: Win7x64, Display: 24&

1st off get some good RAM in there. 1GB of OCZ Gold Edition or Corsair XMS should do you much much better than the 1.37GB of PC2700 low grade stuff thats in there now. Also know that windows dosn't even see .37GB of your RAM, so its just wasted resource.

And if you have ATi Express 200 graphics that means you have a PCI-Express lane, which is very good. Look at the nVidia 7600GT or a ATi X1800GTO both are very nice cards for around $200.

Doing those two small, and realitively cheap upgrades will bost your entire system preformance drastically.

the radon express 200 is lame and intigrated.. you need a new graphics card.

As for your ram could you download CPUz and post some more info?

anything consistantly above 24fps will look very smooth in fs

I mean like...does anyone know any internal System tweaks?

Well with the exception of tweaking the page file, and possably devoting more memory to the intagraded through the BIOS, there really isn't anything you can do without spending money.

And you cant overclock sorry, but then again you were the one who bought an OEM.

I have a proposition for ya.... Go to www.omegadrivers.net there are OMEGA drivers which adds a little boost toy your FPS i fs9. Also if you have all the settings maxed out in fs9 lowere them a little bit.It will get you where you want these are the propositions or get a new card i got a Nvidia 7900 gt SLI 256 and i run smoooooooooth until yesterday but i get good FPS i used to get 70+ FPS but now i get 50-75 cuz my card got a little.....little......poor but is still good. My old ATI 9250 PCI 128mb works good since i put in OMEGA drivers. What omega drivers do is that it incrases more FSP,Performance, and quality.Get them they are good.

He can't do that Emmanual. He is useing intagraded graphics. They don't have OMEGA drivers. Also the reason for your FPS drop is your HDD fragging up due to all the new programs being installed. Try defragging.

Well it looks like you have done all you can then. Unfortunately there is only so much you can do with intagraded graphics before you have to update to an actual video card. Unfortunately it looks like your getting there.

Youve got eMachines stock.  I had eMachines stock till I upgraded.  The X200 is amazing...for an onboard mobo chip.  It did fairly well for me, but tended to overheat.  I would say (from one eMachiner to another) to get a good video card first then get more ram (at least make it a gigabyte)

Well if you get an ATi card I could give you my color settings, ive got it set to be brighter and more vivid in the sim

So has Emachines changed the video cards they use? I bought my new Emachines computer last week. Everything on mine is worse than yours but mine has a nVidia GeForce 6100 on it. (Maybe that isn't better, I don't know much about video cards.) Have they changed brands or something?
