AGP APERTURE SIZE - NO DOUBTS

Postby Fitter » Tue Oct 04, 2005 5:25 pm

I think this link can solve some doubts about the agp aperture size in the bios setup.
Very important to those who still use the agp cards

AAS:

128

always 128

I been sayin it for 4 years now

anything less and your killing performance... even with a GF2 MMX card

256 is too high and reserved for REAL professional video adapters. Its a waste for the typical "pro" card sold for gamers.

Very true, though some benchmarks and gfx demo's prefer the 256 meg aperature size like nvidia's nalu demo. It just does for some reason, but for all games, 128 does the job.

But here's the real way to solve the AGP aperature dilenma:
Buy a PCI-express card.

A good way to see how much free ram memory you have before starts fs9 is to use a freeware program called  Everest Home Edition 2.20 Build 405 (search in google), in fact this programs allow you to see many infos about the system.

*See motherboard - memory* in Everest He

In my case I have some other aplications that sucks the Ram memory. I have 512mb of Ram memory.... ::)
Generally I have 45% of the ram memory in use when windows starts....to get more free memory to take good shots and to have a better fps in fs9 I need to stop some running aplications that starts with the computer. I use msconfig to do that. Dont do if you dont know how...Than I reboot the computer :-*

Only the firewall still's on on and the nvidea program for my graphic card....that is a poor fx5200 128mb  :P...but overclocked to-the-bone  ;D

Here an example of my shots:

http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/ ... 1128291812

Nothing special but good for my system
So I play fs9.... :)

Thats an old guide for old hardware. - It uses a GeForce 3, hardly in the same league as todays 6 & 7 series cards.

If its "Always 128" why in hell will my 256MB 6800GT refuse to work with a 128MB appeture ?

The golden rule is this, whatever works for your particular setup.

The nvidia program is not needed either, but it needs to be disabled in Services as well as in the startup.
