I'm not quite sure what your getting at here Daz, what I'm driving at is the need for Direct X9 support in releases such as Half-Life 2 Doom 3  etc and ,no doubt, future release of CFS / FS will demand Dx9 for all that eye candy so important in a simulator!
Any 3D card that isn't upto the current standard will be unable to process under "hardware acceleration" any DX9 effects - either you won't see the effects at all or the cpu will have to try to take the strain of generating them - hitting fps and overall performance.

This is why most Geforce FX5200's will beat a ti4200 under DX9 benchmarks despite being a cheaper and overall slower card!!!

D@Wu!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This thread is old as H377 and we're still posting replies on it? OMG!!! LOL

I have an old post on the first page that dates back to Oct 14, 2002. Now I have a new system. The video card came with the computer, so pardon me on the MX440 version. ;)

My system specs are listed at the bottom [as my signature].

When my dad first ordered this computer by internet, I thought I was getting a Geforce 2. But instead, it comes with a Geforce 4 MX440 with 128MB.

I know, I understand that I have to get a Ti or FX version. However, FS2004 runs very well with this card. I also have installed the latest graphics drivers from NVIDIA and I used Windows Update to keep my system running well.

I am planning to get an AlienWare Desktop in the near future. Those computers use the Ti or FX versions of Geforce.

Anyways, I never liked overclocking. There are always some risks involved. Especially when it comes to liquid-cooled systems.

Besides, I like the setup that I currently have. It runs well. All I need to do is keep the computer up-to-date.
