Plane X

Postby Alejandro Rhodes » Mon Jun 08, 2009 12:49 pm

I just got a gift from a guy who lives in north Carolina ,but he's a Venezuelan, I been receiving emails from this guy ,I didn't pay too much attentionto him ,I though was one the jokers in the email.
well turns out he came to visit his family here for Vacation and some how Found my cellphone number (I have it posted in facebook ) he contact me , and we meet he's seems to be a nice person ,older than me , we he claims he did want to meet me from a long time , the he admires my works and Bla bla bla ,well I went to his house he gave me among other original copies Like Counter strike the old one and F-16 agressor (I don't even have Idea what it is yet)a logitech joystick , and This is my point Plane X 8
I comes in a DVD and It takes a long time to install , and I can't believe it ,No VC , and I think FS98 is better than this version..
I'm aware that there is a new version 9 , But To be honest I download the freeware Flightgear and It looks much better than this Plane x version ,what Is all talking about Plane x ? Ive seen the videos and I think FS2002 have a better graphics than plane x

That is the Exact same joystick I have! :)

I love it, but I'm looking forward to some Saitek controls. ;)

I never knew you had a homebuilt cockpit Alex. Looks nice actually... Much better than my single joystick (I have the wireless version of that joystick)

That is pretty cool that he looked you up to bring you presents!

I never tried XPlane 8 but I bought XPlane 9 and have recently upgraded the version.

It's pretty nice if you have enough computer to run up the graphics. One can download the sim and get a few minutes of trial flight for free.

Things I don't like about XPlane are:
* having to manually set every slider, button, knob, hatswitch, etc.
*It's dark, even in severe clear weather,
*The weather interface is complete, thorough, and clunky,
*default settings are silly i.e. too much turbulence, 3 foot waves on water which are invisible of course.
*minimal airport scenery outside of LOWI minimal landmarks

Things I like:

The Cirrus Jet

Mars simulation complete with an aircraft or two designed for that atmosphere.

The land looks pretty good.
The people falling out of the balloons.
