General enquiry about combat flight simulators

Postby kaptainfelix » Wed Jul 01, 2009 10:36 pm

I have looked into what combat flight simulators are out there and to be honest it's confusing what to go for.

I'm interested in;

MS Combat flight simulator 3: battle for Europe
Jane's USAF
IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946
Lock On: Air Combat simulation
Wings Over Europe
Pacific fighters

Having looked on Amazon.co.uk, the only one listed as working on windows Vista is 'Lock On:Air combat simulation'

Will any of the others work on Vista?

IL2 will work fine on Vista 32, as will the expansion packs (Pacific Fighters and Forgotten Battles, a couple of "must gets" once you beat the first IL2...what a series!!!!)

I don't have Vista 64 so I don't know if it will work on that OS, but I do have Vista 32 and play all of the IL2 games just fine.

......I believe the last version 'IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946' has everything rolled into one?

do you know if that runs on Vista 32 ?

Thanks

yes they work fine.... I have vista x64 ultimate and I play those plus IL2 1946...plays very well indeed
but make sure you patch them!

Janes usaf doesn't seem to work on mine...no matter what I try try(compatibility etc.)

Wings over Europe i a good CFS! Isreal is better though just because it's newer but more mods are out for Europe version.

But i must suggest you try Falcon 4.0, not the greatest graphics but a pretty perfect job of simulating the Fighting Falcon  ;)

Wings over Isreal - http://www.thirdwire.com/project_woi.htm

Wings over Europe - http://www.thirdwire.com/project_woe.htm

Wings over Vietnam - http://www.thirdwire.com/project_wov.htm

If you have Vista het the upgraded versions

Strike Fighters 2 Europe - http://www.thirdwire.com/project_sf2e.htm

Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam - http://www.thirdwire.com/project_sf2v.htm

Strike Fighters 2 -  http://www.thirdwire.com/project_sf2.htm

There is a large amount of mods for them to make graphics and effects better also add tonnes of more planes and weaponry even a B-58 Hustler with a  massive nuke!!!
