msvcr80.dll and Firefox..!

Postby Fozzer » Fri Nov 21, 2008 5:32 am

Hello Chums...

...well...that's it... :(...

Finally un-installed Mozilla Firefox...again...again...again...

I give up... :'(...!

Every time I try to browse the Sim V Forum with Firefox I get the "Fatal" msvcr80.dll error, which shuts down my Browser completely!
(The Main Page is OK!).

It works fine on all other Sites, but only the Internet Explorer Browser works for The Sim V Forum!

I've tried various versions of Firefox, with no luck.
This has cropped up since fitting a new HDD, and my Win XP SP2 installation on it... :'(...!

Previously used Mozilla Firefox for years, with no major problems.

Searching the 'Net, this msvcr80.dll error is a common problem with Firefox, apparently!

Very strange...and annoying!

...anyone else experienced the problem?

F....using Internet Explorer again now...with no problems...!

Paul, now that you've uninstalled Firefox install a program called EasyCleaner and run its Registry Cleaner and then run the Unnecessary option and find the Mozilla files and zap 'em.
Then reinstall Firefox and all should be good ;)

Opera looks pretty good, so far!

I've got it running with my Home Page on start-up, so the only visible bit of Opera is the top Heading!

It certainly seems more stable than my previous Mozilla Firefox Browser...;)...!

I miss the "auto-spellcheck" of Firefox whilst typing.
Opera has to be spell checked manually, and its easy to forget to perform it before posting!... :-[...!

If the only site you go on is simv then yeah homepage is good but i like Speed Dial. Lets you put 9 pages into 9 different buttons and sets it as your homepage. Not sure about other people but i find this to be incredibly useful.

FIX Firefox msvcr80.dll Error

Postby hipinidaho » Sun Mar 01, 2009 4:52 pm

HOW To FIX - Firefox msvcr80.dll Error

OK, this one really made me crazy. Some sites I'd visit would prompt an error message to pop up and halt my web-surfing by only giving me the option to report the error to Microsoft or close Mozilla. The details of the error message showed it was a msvcr80.dll issue from the Mozilla.exe directory. Here's a list of things I tried before I found the fix...

1st~ I uninstalled Mozilla Firefox 3.0.6,

2nd~ I searched for any hidden files in my system, program files and registry that were named Mozilla an/or Firefox and removed them.

3rd~ I Re-booted did a clean install of Mozilla Firefox 3.0.6
Problem was still there.

4th~ I Updated Java - Problem still there

5th~ I Searched my entire system for the msvcr80.dll driver and replaced all but one. The only directory which wouldn't let me replace the driver was,
C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.762_x-ww_6b128700

And alas, the problem still there... waaa

OK, now that I've made you listen to all my woes,
HERE"S THE FIX!!!

Open Mozilla, go to TOOLS.

Then click on ADD-ONS

Now go down the list and DISABLE EVERYTHING.

Restart Mozilla and then visit all those problem sites where Mozilla would pop up the msvcr80.dll error message. Viola! no more problem!

Glad I could help everyone.

Please uphold the US Constitution, don't allow them to attack our 2nd amendment rights, and hold fast to Christ in these last days.
