It would be lovely if you just had to select "Import > Bookmarks" in Firefox, and a window popped up displaying the actual folder with all your previous Bookmarks in it, (hidden in the C Drive), and you just click on the set you want....Olay...sorted!!

...to easy...or what?.... ;)... ;D...!

You can do exactly that. Click Bookmarks > Organise Bookmarks.
Then click File > Import.

...trubble was...

There was only one option to "import from" in the "Import" Window in the previous Firefox 2...(where I lost my Bookmarks)....>>

...*Internet Explorer*...

...not from Firefox itself!...;)...!

(Bjorn described a complex way of retrieving them, which finally worked).

Firefox 3 seems to me laid out differently... ::)...!
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

Ah Firefox 3. You never told me that. ::) I'm still using good ol' Firefox 2.

At great personal risk I just installed Firefox 3 to check it out. I lost my trusty Google Toolbar* & several other useful plugins in the process but didn't lose a single bookmark. The option you want has changed slightly. Click Bookmarks > Organise Bookmarks. Then click the Import & Backup tab. Select the Import HTML option.

You will still have to locate the backup profile you wish to restore. I suggest finding the location now & creating a shortcut to it. The folder is named bookmarkbackups. The files have a "bookmarks" prefix. Shouldn't be difficult to find from the Windows Search function.

*Meanwhile, I'm going back to Firefox 2. :P
