Flash Player alternatives

Postby ozzy72 » Wed Jan 16, 2008 3:44 pm

Well I've finally worked out the root of all my crashing problems. Flash Player! I've tried using versions 8, 9 and 10 to no avail. They all cause reboot on certain sites. I've tried the registry edit fix that is recommended to no avail.
So does anyone know of a good alternative that isn't Adobe/Macromedia that'll work in Firefox and allow me to watch YouTube vids and the like?

have a look in the firefox add-ons section

tools>>add-ons

see if they have an alternative listed amongst their add-ons

also, Did you download the external file and install it, or did you let firefox install the Macromedia Flash Player

It might seem silly but it could be one of those stupid things.

EDIT: just browsed through firefox add-ons and their is a way to let firefox install the Flash player, I'm currently having a quick search to see if there is an alternate player

I've let Firefox install it and I've done it manually. I've just never come across something like this before. I've been up half the night looking for a solution without success.....

It is what the samurai warriors did rather than face the dishonour of capture. They'd get their small sword and drag it across their stomach and disembowel themselves...
