The number, 576, 768, 1080 has to do with the number of vertical pixels, or lines of pixels, the TV can display. For example 768 is 1366x
768. 1080 is 1920x1080 resolution. The P means Progressive scan, which is where the whole image is shown every frame. Alternatively there is I, or Interlaced. This is where only half the image is rendered per frame. For example, one frame will show all odd lines the next will render all even. This can cause tearing during fast moving action movies.
No good flagship games on the PS3??!!??!! What about Assassin's Creed, CoD4, Elder Scrolls IV, Rock Band and Guitar Hero, Warhawk? What about any release from Square Enix? Long running franchises such as Final Fantasy? Don't forget GTA IV! There is PLENTY on the PS3. Also, there is a very interesting game on PS3 called the Eye of Judgment. It is a card game similar to Yu-Gi-Oh, but you place cards on a board where a camera for the PS3 reads it and all the action happens on you TV. There is also a heap of games now. When it first came out there was very little, now there are plenty to satisfy yourself with.
Over the next few months there are also some great games coming and the Dual Shock 3 controller! It is just like the Six Axis controller, but with the rumble of the Dual Shock 2 controllers, which by the way won the Best Controller award
You also know my feelings on Blu-Ray, if you want to have the winning technology and a movie collection you can use for a long time, go the PS3. Also, due to Blu-Ray and its large storage capabilities, PS3 games can be longer, more involving with better movies, meshes and textures than other games. You also have the Cell Broadband engine which blasts any other CPU out of the water! That thing has 8 cores clocked at 3.2ghz and that is matched with XDR RAM that is also clocked at 3.2ghz. It also has a video card based on the nVidia G71 chipset, the chipset on the very successful GeForce 7 series. The one in the PS2 is comparable tot he high end 7900 series. Over all this machine is a beast, sadly no games use it to its max. I can't wait for the day a gaming company uses the PS3 to its full potential, I have my money on Square Enix with Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts.
