Win XP FOLDER SECURITY help

Postby Jimbo » Thu Nov 15, 2007 2:52 pm

Hey up!

Silly Question here..

I was messing around with an older system of mine running Win XP HOME. I've installed the secuity option, which basically adds a security TAB to each and every folder under "Properties". I've basically been stupid, gone onto permissions and set Users(MyPcName) to deny access the C: Drive. So that means me, i'm on the admin account too, cannot access the bloody C drive anymore! I've had a look for help topics but cant seem to find much, so was hoping someone on here would be able to help me out.

Many thanks Indeed.

James

Now now!  :D

It wasn't that actually obvious that i was going to lock MYSELF out. It said users(mycomputername), i thought Users as in OTHER users than ME, the admin.

Just used the help search function..cheers Doug  8-)....But keep getting an error message preventing me from changing bloody permissions.

Stress Levels Rising.

Sorry James. I wasn't laughing at you, honest. I've done much sillier things than that in my time. ::) ;)

If that MS article was no help I have no idea how to fix it. I'm sure some clever clogs will enlighten us.

System restore may be able to help you, provided you have it turned on... just roll back to before you locked yourself out.

That's if you can get into windows of course  :P  :P

A live cd* linux distro may help you.. a bit of a last resort but it may help you access your C: drive.

*An operating system which boots straight from cd, with no need to install.

Also, ask the same question in the Hardware forum  ;)
