Best Anti-virus?

Postby Wing Nut » Fri May 11, 2007 11:57 am

Well, like Paul, I have decided to ditch Norton and go with something else, as it seems a bit of a memory hog.  So what is the best Antivirus out there?  I am using the stock Verizon security suite that came with my internet until I find something, but I don't really feel too confortable with it...  :P

NOD32

www.eset.com

nuff said, all fixed

the only thing it wont get rid of is Norton. Once Norton is installed the payload of crunching your system that virus called Norton delivers does not go completely away by hitting the uninstall button. Usually requires a painstaking search of the registry and system to kill all the hidden Norton crap ... or a wipe of Windows

Stay away from porn sites; don't open email from strangers or click on anything other than links at sites you trust. :)

I've been online extensively since the internet's inception and have never EVER run aniti-virus stuff... and the only infections I've had in all those years (only two come to mind) were when I broke said rules.

No porn?  No un-trusted links?  Gee, why even bother with the internet at all?

Hah! Just run an Antivirus, and you can do whatever you like. Though, it's still a good move to stay off the porn! Too risky!

Mine-
AVG
ZoneAlarm Suite(AntiVirus/AntiSpyware turned off, takes to many resources)
Spybot S&D

This is, in my experince, the best combo. Just look at my specs! I don't have memory to waste! I have tried around 25 different programs. This is good. If you want to cheap out, you can use the basic version of Zone Alarm, but Suite/Pro is worth it if you have a network.

Hope this helps.

I have been using McAfee online for 5 years. Could not be happier. Never had a virus and it has picket up all other threats too.
