403 Forbidden

Whenever I first connect to the internet with Internet Explorer, the first page that loads always goes to

Image

This happens wheather it is the home page or any other page.

The status bar will breifly display: cache.freeserve.net before I get the message, despite my not using freeserve for my ISP.

The problem developed a couple of months ago, and only on two of five userspaces on my computer.
I've just updated to Internet Explorer 7 and completely reset to default settings, but this doesn't fix it.

Can anyone help me sort this out?

May want to try a spyware scan or run HiJackThis to see if you have a browser hijacker.

I've just tried this, but nothing comes up.

I also discovered that the page it goes to is www-cache.freeserve.net

It only happens after I first connect my broadband, so could it be anything to do with this?

when you first start up the broadband eh? Sounds like a router issue (Ports and such) I run mine completely open (Unsafe, so hack me!) and I also leave my computer on 24/7 unless somebody isnt home.... and I also run my net 24/7 (Router is ALWAYS on) I just reccon you leave the broadband on all the time and do a little google searching..... Gunny, the worlds unsafe and unsecure internet user! (did I mention I dont run virus software either)

If I connect the broadband THEN open Internet Explorer I don't get the problem.
It only happens when I open Internet Explorer first, and it then connects.

I think I fixed it.
I went to Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Settings > Properties > Options > X.25 and changed the top setting from (none) to InfoNetX25.

Despite this setting having reverted to (none) next time I checked, the issue I had has vanished.

Very odd.

As long as you connect to the internet before opening the internet browser you will not have the problem. Because how can the browser find the web page if it's not connected to the internet?

Well it does now!
Internet Explorer should connect before trying to load the page. That wasn't the trouble I was having.
