I dont think it is possible to remove without reformatting, in which you would need a cd or something to reinstall Windows.
But I also can say you would find it to be a major waste of time to try it, personally I find all my applications work far better on SP2.

Oh you can do it. But unless your very firmiliar on how to do a correct drive cleanup and restore its not worth it. The problem is many programs now REQUIRE SP2 to be running. Your AntiVirus and FireWall are two programs that need it. Many others like MSN Messenger FSX etc all need SP2. Not to mention that SP1 has a crapload of issues.

I am fortunate in having the original OEM version of Windows XP Pro, which only includes Service Pack 1.

This enables me to install my Windows XP on my formatted Hard Drives without the annoyance of having to get approval from Uncle Bill each time....(just like my good-old Windows '95/'98SE )....;)...!

...and not having SP 2 also means that I don't have various "disconnection" problems with Multiplayer, due to Firewalls, Routers, etc....;)...!

There are those here who love SP2 to bits.... :-*
...and then there are those of us who can manage quite nicely without it... ;)...!

Paul... ;D...!

AVG for anti-virus.
Spybot for spy-ware.
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.
