Okay guys, this is a new weird problem...For some reason, when I can't play any sounds...If I restart my computer, I can get sounds again...When I go to the Sounds thingy in the Control Panel, it displays no audio device...However, my speakers are connected...and for some reason...restarting brings back sound...for only a temporary session though...WTF...Someone please help...
Sound problems are usually caused by IRQ or DMA conflicts. This should be easily found in your device manager. Have you installed any programs lately? Maybe turning off TSR's one at a time in msconfig will help. When all else fails read your documentation.

The only thing I did was install a codec pack and then uninstall it...I don't know whats wrong...also, before the sounds goes away, I get a message saying "Generic Process for Windows 32 has encountered an error and needs to close"...I need to send an error report etc etc...Also, my audio is Realtek '97 Audio...where can I find drivers for it?
Could you also post what is the system section in your event viewer?
