IL-2

Postby Mike.. » Mon May 22, 2006 8:26 am

I have this sim along with Forgotton battles, Ace expansion pack, and the latest Pacific Fighters. I cleared a large space on my primary drive to reload it as I love this sim and have a little more time these days to fly something other than FS9. Does anyone know how many patches are out now for the sims? Will I have to start with IL-2 and update it in total before loading Forgotton Batles? Do the same for Forgotton before loading the Ace expansion? The same for Pacific Fighters? Or have they got it now that one patch will do it all for the entire series? Was thinking I might reload LOMAC as well as when I got it had just came out and was full of bugs. It looks like it has come a long way since release. I have a feeling I have my work cut out for me. Any info would be great. Thanks guys ;)

Just go to www.pacific-fighters.com. They have a whole list of patches that can be installed onto FB+AEB+PF and stand alone installations.

I figured as much. Are you saying I can load all the sims first, then update the whole thing with the patches or one sim at a time? ???

That sound s good to me!! I miss flying through flak infested skies, dog fighting, straffing enemy targets. Then the limp back home (if i'm lucky enough not to have to bail or worse). I'll get to it this evening after work. Thanks for all the info guys. Anyone got any IP's for where you MP at? That is if any of you still fly this one that is.

I did this myself just recently.

Install:

- IL-2 Forgotten Battles AEP
- Pacific Fighters, merge the installation.

Then you end up with - "IL-2" v3.00

Now install the patches in this order:

- pf_v303m.exe
- pf_v304m.exe
- pf_v401m.exe
- pf_v402m.exe
- pf_v403m.exe
- pf_v404m.exe

The order is very important, and so is the "m", this  means it's for the merged install.

VERY IMPORTANT; You have to do some editing "manually".

Add this to "config.ini":

1) Add [game] TypeClouds=1
2) Add [game] 3dgunners=1

Yes, I actually read the READMEs..

Thanks Ecko! I'm printing this here at work so I'll know exactly what to do when I get home ;). I take it all of the patches can be found at the above mentioned site? Shouldn't be to hard then. Thanks again to everyone.

You dont need to install the 3.04 it is included in the 4.01 patch.

After you get it fired up stop by my site in the sig below ;)

Also you can now order the complete install on DVD via gogamers.com, this includes IL2/FB/AEP and all updates.

The PE2 add on is still only available via download and Im waiting for them to fix it before buying ;)

Ok. It's all set up except for the config.ini. I found it under my IL-2 Sturmovik file. If this is the one I am to add the clouds and gunners, do I add it to the bottom of the config file or is it suppposed to fit elsewhere?

I also havn't configured my joystick yet although some functions work by default, Everything on the stick of my X-52 seems to work fine (in default, havn't reassigned any buttons yet), but the throttle doesn't work at all. Well the slider on the throttle (next to the "D" button led blue) works as the throttle. Any way to change that.  It doesn't seem to recognize the joystick yet things work anyway. Anyone else have this problem? Am I just tired and not seeing the solution :P. I'm almost there. I need to fix these issues first. Then button configuration, reregister with ubi,pratice,etc,etc............. ;D :P. Oh the memories did flow when I jumped back in that ole LA-7 flyin low and fast through the mountains ;D. Ozzy would be proud ;D ;D ;D

Any additional help would be much appreciated. Guess I'll leave it as is till tomarrow night. Gotta tuck in the misses. Night guys!

It will be under the  [game] section where the lines will be added.

Be aware that clouds, 3d gunners, high water settings and forest can only be handled with better video cards, so if your getting loss of performance bad graphics etc.. set this to a different setting.

Does anyone have a setup or way to set up the X-52? Most things work and or are programable on the stick but the throttle (the actual lever itself) doesn't work. The slider on the throttle acts as the throttle for the sim (next to the "D" led blue button on the throttle) ??? Unless I missed it in the set up somewhere I don't see where to set it ???
