More spam help..!

Postby Jimbo » Sun May 21, 2006 6:19 am

I have used my email address for many years now, and it seems SPAM has started to invade...

But more different kind of SPAM.

I keep getting emails with the unsubscribe@Some email address co.uk, and many other emails etc from companys saying "Unsubscribe" in the message line.

WHY am i getting these? I'm not responsible for sending these SPAM emails and now ive been bombared with emails from people saying "Unsubscribe me".

The thing is, when i recieve an email, it usually says tomyemailaddress@company.co.uk, but the ones ive been receiving are TO a completely different person/company.

SO, WHY am i recieving these? I'm not to blame for the SPAM, and im recieving "Unsubscribe" emails from loads of people.

Please help.

Many thanks. >:(

You got me as to why you are recieving them, especially,
if I understand you correctly, they are not addressed to you.

Looks like you are going to have to create a new message rule for those.

These spammers are extremely tricky about getting their mail out. They come up with new ways to bypass every roadblock we and programmers come up with.

...I've long given up on it now... :'(...!
I've tried everything I know and still it arrives.
Fortunately my Service provider (Freeserve) filters all of the "Spam stuff" out, and dumps it into my Junk Mail folder for me to delete in it's entirety every day....or less!

Some folks get it...
...some Folks don't. I don't know why... :o...!

Well in reality they ARE addressed to you ;)

They will use fake names or subject headers to get you to open them, hoping you will get mad and click the unsubscribe link yourself. By doing this you are verifing that your address is active and then get ready for some real spamming ;)

But the emails im receiving look so real...? They look like they are from legitimate companys "Unsubscribing" from their SPAM emails, except im recieving the "Unsubscribe" email requests, in my inbox. I received 20 of these requests today. Is there anything i can do about this.?

How did they get my email address in the first place?

.... ::) >:(

Cheers,

James

Well Jimbo that is odd, I would still just delete them and ignore them they should soon stop appearing I would think.

As for how someone(thing) gets your email that is easy all you have to do is give it to one person, or website ;)

Have you ever noticed how a friend may send you a email? but not only they forward it to you but maybe like 10 others?
Those 10 others now have your email and if they each forward it to 10 more people there is another 100 that have it, and it keeps going........

Also even though many websites have a privacy policy this doesn't mean much, many site will sell your email for profit mainly because it is virtually impossible to prove it was them ;)

I have noticed that using my ISP based email that spam is limited to maybe one or two on occasion, but web based email (Hotmail, AOL, Earthlink and the likes) are constently getting stuff that is nothing I asked for so it would be safe to say that webmail servers  do give out the address even though they state they don't ;)

Bottom line is once you have used your email addresss in no time a thousand others will have it in thier possesion.
