I Hate PDF Files

Postby Scorpiоn » Fri May 05, 2006 1:23 am

I hate PDF files.  Why?  Because they suck.  Why do they suck?  'Cause.  Grr. :P

Jesus cries every time you open a PeeDF.  It's a fact.  He's sitting right beside me.  I know these things.

Is it the files that suck or just Acrobat Reader?

Dump Acrobat and get Foxit.  One file, 3Mb, no bloat.

Thanks Webb, I have hated Adobe for years.
Everytime I needed it for a pdf it wants to update and no small updates either ;)

This Foxit is sweet, small, not resource hungry, no annoying banner ads running across the top and fast!! I have now used it for over 5 pdf file and not once did it want to update, :)

That and i now have 60 free mb of HD space to fill with addons ;)

I don't even have PDF files.  They're always online, and clicking them brings my browser to a crawl far too long.  I don;t think this Foxit thing has Firefox compatability, right?

You can set it to be the default PDF reader, it will then work with FF, it will download and open the file.

I am looking to see if there is a plug in that allows it intigrate with the browser. If so this would be sweet Adobe takes to long to perform this function, probably becasue as it opens the files it is wanting to phone home to update something lmao!

Your not alone friend ;)

You may want to check into Foxit, I also found that when it comes to printing PDFs it will print faster than Adobe as well ;)

There is a Foxit plugin for FF.

I don't use it because it's still easier for me to get the popup box that says "What do you want to do with this file?"  Sometimes I want to open it in Foxit and sometimes I want to download it.

I also have a Userstyle/CSS hack that displays PDF web links with an Adobe icon next to them so I always know when I'm about to click on a link to a PDF file.

Here is a registry hack for permamently disabling the advertising.  As always, use at your own risk.
