WinXP won't open up .zip files anymore

It used to, but for some reason it won't anymore. any ideas?

It must be a bug I reckon, mine has started buggering around with rar files...
Have you reinstalled winzip?

Do you mean that it actually refuses to open them? Does it bring up any warning/error signs when you click on one?

I think that Win XP has lost the recognition of .ZIP files. If this is the case, then simply go to

Control Panel -> Folder Options -> File Types

Scroll down to .ZIP and make sure that it 'Opens with...' 'Compressed (zipped) folder' or WinZip.

P.S. I found that the default Windows downloader did not have a "resume" function... :'(...!
If my computer dis-connected, (2-hour dial-up), half way through, I had to start all over again... >:(...!

I know why you use Getright but he is commenting on the fact that his XP won't open zip files anymore.
Nothing about downloading them ;)

Am I missing something here? LOL!

i found IZArc to be a usefull sipping utility, always used WinZip but find IZArc to be a lot better, handles any type file and easy to use!

My all-time favourite was Go!Zilla version 3.9 which included a FAB, simple, un-zip/insatall facility,,, 8)...!
It only had two functions...download and un-zip...automatically.. ;)...!

..only prob was, it also filled my 'puter with spyware... ::)... :'(...!
..but I loved it for it's sheer simplicity... ;D...!

P.S. My original Win XP downloader un-zipped the programs O.K. but not having a "resume" option spoilt it for me...!

Yeah you need a downloader with resume features!!!!!!
Especially when you internet connection consist of two soup cans and some string!  ;D
