Zapping nasty virus's...!
Hi all...!
I know it's all been posted before....
...but it's good to get a reminder now and again...!
A few days ago my Norton told me that I had two very nasty Virus's on my computer, (as 'appens!)...!
A Norton Virus scan in Windows picked them both up in my System Registry , and my request to quarrantine them, and delete, them failed...
...Why...?
...because...
They are both located in the System Registry, which my running version of Windows obviously needs intact to run the system..!
..So..
The way to get rid of them is first to dis-able Windows "Go Back"*, then start the computer in "Safe Mode", (press F8 during the boot-up sequence).
Then run the virus scan again, (this time it will be in DOS mode which doesn't require the Windows Registry running).
It is now possible to quarrantine them, and delete them, with the option to post the details back to Norton.
Re-start Windows.
Re-enable "Go Back".
...sorted...!
*This prevents the possibility of "going back" to the previous infected situation!
Cheers all...!
Paul...virus free...for five minutes...!
LOL...!
A read through the Norton Site instructions on deleting Virus's will show the above suggested method.
Have fun with the spray can...LOL...!
