Mozilla Firefox/Internet Explorer 6

Postby Fozzer » Sun Dec 05, 2004 3:00 pm

Hi All..!
I have Mozilla Firefoz and Internet Explorer 6 sitting on my desktop.
My query is: Many times when I select a site with Internet Explorer 6 the page comes up BLANK with the report "Done" at the bottom left-hand side of the page*...?
I have pop-ups allowed, Cookies allowed, Security set to medium, Active X controls running, no Firewalls, etc....
The only way I can access these sites (to fill the page), is by using Firefox..!
Why should I be having these problems with Internet Explorer...?

Many thanks...!

Paul.

*Example: trying to access the "Dictionary" on the Forum always fails...blank page!

P.S. I find that IE has a better text editor than Firefox, so IE is my preferred Browser if I need to use text... ;)...!
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

Also Fozzer check to make certain that the page you are trying to access isn't a PDF, when ever I see the word "Done" in the lower left and a blank screen I look up in the address bar and notice http:// blahblahblah/pdf   or something like that, check and see if "pdf" is in the address somewhere.
Although Dictonary.com isn't a pdf site so I wonder about that?

I have pop-ups allowed, Cookies allowed, Security set to medium, Active X controls running, no Firewalls, etc...

With IE your making a death sentence for yourself ;)

I just tried going to the dictionary link from SimV using IE6 and had no trouble, so uncertain what is happening on your end, but that is the first time in awhile I used IE and now I know why, SLOOOOWWW!! and even though pop-ups are blocked I got 8 just going from the SimV home page, to the forums then to Dictionary.com, Firefox rocks who the hell cares about text editing, im editing this here on Firefox and notice no problem ;)  ;D

That is odd ::) I don't have any of those editing problems.
Maybe it is because your on the other side of the world than me??? LOL!!

My IE is slow as syrup, and Firefox is fast as a F16.

It appears that your problems are the exact opposite that I experiance .

Sorry friend I really don't know how too help :-[
