Multiplayer Connection Problem

Postby HF_Ginger » Sun Apr 11, 2004 10:38 am

Since beginning to use FS9, the latest problem to surface is a failure to connect when trying to connect to the server. After going through the multiplayer connect screen, eventually a window opens 'Connect failed. Not all players were able to connect,' After clicking ok and the screen resets, at the top of the screen in a chat strip are the words 'has left session'.

It was working okay before I had to re install it

Hi Ginger!

If you are using a firewall, either disable it or set it to let the FS9 traffic in & out. I am not sure on the ports but if required I can look them up for you.

Hmmm. May I ask which firewall you are using?

Norton firewall......I must say that prior to a re install of FS it was working fine....I can still connect to SqawkBox and Vatsim and get online.....it appears to be this IP thing that stops me.......I do go through a router , but I have Not adjusted or messed with any of that......I belong RAFv and thats the IP I attempt to connect to....it's getting frustrating now...any help appreciated though.....I have also reinstalled again...but no joy

Regards

Routers are troublesome things, try connecting without it?

Hmm. How would you normally play? Would you normally type in someone's IP address, or would you find a game on Zone to fly in? I assume you mean MSN Zone?

There are so many possibilities I need to try and narrow the problem down a bit ;)

So you cannot connect using anything other than IP?

Geforce

It appears that I just cannot connect to the RAFv server, I can connect to everything esle, or so it seems. I am beginning to believe that the problem does not lie with my system...but RAFv contest that...it may be some dll files that are corrupted etc......but I do not know...I can only suggest that I attempt to delete every FS file on my system and re install....I do not want to format my H/D if I can help it........on top of that my , other PC (new) with FS2004 installled (and networked) does the same......so I cannot believe the latter...however!

Hi Ginger!

Hmm, I would have thought the problem does not lie with your system(s). Do both your computers go through or share the same internet connection? Or do both of your systems use the same router? I would suggest that you pack up one of your computers and take it to a friends house, and try and connect with their internet connection. That should help you try and isolate the problem.
