I've been reading this forum for a little while but this is my first post so be gentle.
I have finally succumbed to the power of the dark side and begun my sim pit tonight. It's been in the design stages for literally years and has been through many tweaks and changes, but today I bought myself a soldering iron and built myself a little test rig.
Ok so it's a single button on a square of hardboard connected to the guts of a USB joypad, but to me it's very symbolic. And what's more IT WORKS

I had to tell someone and my wife just doesn't seem to understand how a grown man can get so excited over a single button!
Gear up...Gear down...Gear up...Gear down...Gear up...
One button just isn't enough. This is how the madness starts then
