Analog Pit gauges

Postby BuggsK100RS » Fri Jun 27, 2008 2:16 pm

Iv been to the Humberside Flying Club today (work related ) and have discovered that thay have a rather large stock of Nonworking gauges Every thing From Air Speed indicators to Artificial Horizons and even Radio Stack panels and some Auto pilot panels.  I know that thay are from Small Air Craft and have directed them here as thay are running out of space to Keep them.  All the parts are ( Mostly Intact ) with No major bits missing and all tho most dont work I just thought thay thay might be able to be converted or rebuilt to work with a sim.

( Most of a Gauges have come from the local Aircraft servicing places I dont know the Condition of all of them but the ones that are for sale are the ones that are aether too difficult or too expencive to get sorted for going back in the Air.  Thay look like thay will be good for Sim Pit Duty tho )

I would imagine that without connecting them to the rest of a proper, working aircraft, none of them will work!...;)...!

Its all the "Stuff" that is connected behind behind them, (the Panel), and inside them, that make them work for real... :)...!

Vacuum pumps, Pitot tubes, gyros. radio aerials, power supplies, air supplies, etc...

(They are not like simple Voltmeters and Ammeters).

Paul...G-BPLF... 8-)...!

P.S....Mind you don't get "nicked" for "half-inching" them!.... :o.... ;D....!

Yes most dont work with there current innards tho im sure that someone on here has said that a pillps?? card will work servos and so at minimum just the faces of the Gauges would be worth it for that authentic feel pit?

As you say, it could probably be done with servos or stepper motors, plenty of options on the market to interface with FS.

I think I remember seeing an Artificial Horizon done this way on a website somewhere, no doubt John B. will have the answer to that one when he gets back from Japan.
