Specs check

Postby Mass » Wed May 09, 2012 5:26 am

Hey all,

Was just wondering if someone could glance over my specs and see if there's a major reason I'm getting graphics well below what I would hope for?

Hewlett-Packard
HP Pro 3125 Microtower
AMD Athlon II X2 250 Processor @ 3.00GHz
4Gb RAM
64bit OS
ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics

Sorry for the noob style question, I just thought I had enough here to produce a far better quality sim than I've so far found.

Thanks!
Mass

Ive recently bought FSX.

I used to run FS9 really well on an old old computer, definitely tempted to drop back to it if there is no easy fix. Cant be that many copies of it still knocking around surely!

I swap between the two Sims every day...

My choice depends upon whether I want to have instant fun... [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]...

Guess which one I mostly go for... ;)... ;)...!

If i still had the FS9 box lying around I wouldnt have even thought about FSX.

If you find the FS9 so much easier how come you jump into FSX? How much difference really is there??

First thing I'd upgrade would be the graphics card. Any new card with an nVidia chip will make a good upgrade.

You can get a GTS 450 for less than

...and don't forget to check your Power Supply Unit (wattage)...

Every new addition that you fit is likely to suck more power from your PSU, and you could easily overload it, and burn it out!

I had to limit my choice of my graphics card upgrade, and select a low wattage one, to prevent overloading of my small, 320 Watt PSU!

Paul....watt's the time?... ;)...!

FSX is if you want decent FPS and amazing looks from ORBX etc.
FS9 is if you want great FPS and decent/good looks.

I think FSX just runs well on some systems and...less well on others...
