Is this a graphic card issue?

[color=#000000][size=12]Every once in a while, lets say if I change an aircraft or make a change while the sim is running, when the sim reloads it looks like this. It is flashing and as you can see, the graphics are all wierd. If I toggle through views the sound changes but the image still is the same... kind of like a strobing effect, especially if I use Light Bloom. The only way to fix it is to exit out of the sim. My eVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 is about 3 years old now and a few said that it is probaby the culprit. Any ideas?

Completely remove all graphics drivers and try re-installing the latest set from nVidia. That normally cures this one Dave

Tried that already Mark 
Nvidia seems to think it is their card...
And I admitted running this rig pretty hot, probably more than the card I have can handle they said.

Have you got a backup card you could try just to prove the fault? Also have you been over-clocking the card?

Probably will just get a new card.
Nvidia said this is the best card my rig can handle without changing out the PSU. I think the card in there now has been somewhat of a bottleneck since the beginning.

Fairy snuff Dave, just seems odd tis all. I've never managed to break a graphics card.... just about everything else I've succeeded in trashing however

When is the last time you took that card out of the machine and fully CLEANED all of the passages for the airflow for the card mounted cooling fan?  I'll BET that it is plugged up all to heck....... which equals heat....... which does just that kind of stuff.

A few ideas came to my head:

1. It could possibly be dust causing it to overheat.. however given that FSX isn't really that intensive on the graphics processor I doubt this is the case. In any case first thing you should do it make sure it's not clogged with dust... you don't have to be too fussy about dust, as long as it is not clogged up with it.

2. Try under-clocking the card (core and memory) by 5%-10% (with i.e. rivatuner or msi afterburner) which sometimes fixes problems with artifacts.

3. If all that fails then try running a spare videocard if you have one.

4. Try returning the card with eVGA. As far as I know they offer 3 year warranties with there graphics cards so there is a possibility that you can get them to replace it. Since the GTX 285 has been out of production a while it's possible they'll ship you a shiny new graphics card for free. eVGA has really good support I hear.

5. Grab a GTX 570. It really is a great card and should run on a computer that can run a GTX 285 fine.
