Has it got enough grunt

Postby Shadowcaster » Tue Nov 02, 2010 8:13 am

Some of you may have noticed my post on the problem I have getting some VFR software running on XP 64bit. Well I contacted Horizon this morning and they said sometimes XP 64 does strange things. It's probably a poorly surported 64 bit motherboard driver. So I have gone back to 32bit XP for the time being. They also sugested trying it on Windows 7. At the moment I duel boot XP/Win7, but I'm not sure that my computer has enough grunt to run FSX in Win7.

Machine Spec is...
Duel Core 2.7 Pentium E5400
512meg GeForce GT9500 Graphics
4gig DDR 3 memory.
Is that enough or should I be thinking about a new Graphics Card or Processer.

Cheers
Rich

I think that might actually work fine. You may even be able to overclock the processor just a tad, and with that, I suspect in my far-from-expert opinion that you should be fairly happy with FSX in all but the most intense aircraft/scenery combinations.

Hi Sean
Thanks for the input, I have just finished installing it in Windows 7 and was surprised to find it ran much better than in XP. Granted it is not running at the highest setting, but they are higher than the ones in XP. So I'm off for a trip around the coast of Cornwall in my favourite aircraft the humble Chipmunk.

Thanks again
