[color=#000000]That's the card I ordered with my Aurora. I have mixed feelings about it. I could not get AA working well with reasonable FPS until I downloaded ATI Tray Tools. And after some sessions with tech support (Alienware, not my son Tech Support

I'd rather this:

or 3 of them in crossfire just for the hell of it.

In any case, even the fastest 5970's will perform the same as a 5870 in FSX.

But seriously, dual GTX 460 and some fast G.Skill would be as fast and cost much less.

i would be ESTATIC just to have *15 FPS* in FSX!!!!!!! i can only get MAYBE 4 with all sliders to the left, no sound, no shadows,  ......... basically FSX as a desert while I fly my FS9 B737-300 at FL300 looking at the clear blue above me.... only thing showing is the blue and the plane, all i get is MAYBE 4.

Fs9 on the other hand... steady 25.

That sucks. Anyway, it said the card uses in the neighborhood of 400+ watts under load. It's a lot. Yeah, unless you're using a VERY high resolution, I don't think crossfire won't help much anyway.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/ARES/32.html

The 5970 gets a fair bit of performance per watt. 3rd highest efficiency of any graphics you on the market at now at the resolution it was designed to run at.

Unless you're getting an overclocked 5970 like the ASUS ARES, power consumption shouldn't exceed 300 watt. The Tomshardware link was total system power consumption.

Obviously, this is not in game, I just took the shot. And some of the readings are a bit misleading, as this is a 2GB card. But it also processes sound and I'm running iTunes right now.
