Graphics card

Postby CHUCK79 » Sat Jun 26, 2010 8:59 am

Hi everyone.
Need some advice on graphics cards.

Finally saved enough pennies to invest in a graphics card :) :D
I have an Inspiron 546s from Dell.I found a pretty good deal on a NVIDIA GeForce 310.

My questions are: 1.How do I know for sure if this card is compatible with my system? 2.Is this card going to provide a significant increase in performance over stock?

All input is appreciated :)
Thanks in advance

You'll get better answers but the mobo card slot and PSU ouput are key factors.

How much did it cost? Just saying because sometimes old hardware doesn't get reduced in price. In Australia I could only find the X1300 Pro for $130 AUD, which is enough for a GTS 250, or dual second hand 8800's.

Have Dell Inspiron 546s.....
Installed ATI Radeon HD 3450 graphic card.....
Performance significantly dropped.....
WTF!!!!!
I didn't even have a graphics card installed before!
How could having no card be better than the 3450?

I've been waiting weeks for this grand dissapointment :'(

Nevermind.....
Simply was not an upgrade to this particular system, after trial and tribulation I achieved roughly the same performance  as I had before ;D
Upgraded the hell out of my old Dell though....
The kids are stoked ;)
Thanks
