[color=#000000]You have to program it. There is a program that comes with it that allows you to program a different profile for each sim/game you use it for. And the knob on the top right gives you three mini profiles for each. Mine worked for a while, but since the unit came back from the factory for repair, I have been unable to get the profiler to work properly. If you don't want a sophisticated profile, you can just program it in game. Go to settings, then controls under other settings on the right, and then click on the button keys tab. Scroll down until you find something you want to program a button to, click new assignment, press the button you want to use for that function and click ok. On the throttle, I use button E for gear, D for dropping tanks, bombs, etc., and 24, 25, & 26, for elevator trim and water rudder. On the stick, I use B for engaging flaps, A for return, C for cycling view. Fire for spoiler, and the pinkie switch for smoke. But these are just examples, you can set them any way you want.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

I love mine! :)  Been using it for almost two years.

As far as the OP......I was/is the noobiest of noobs and was able to program mine quite easily.  As a matter of fact, I've had to reprogram mine twice again recently after attempting to fix a screw-up, then having to remove all traces of FSX from my 'puter after the first fix failed miserably.

Had mine for over a year now - using it exclusively for FS which makes it very easy to set up.

is this something that you were looking for??

this is just a crude drawing, in your SETTINGS / ASSIGNMENTS, you can tell FSX what joystick buttons do what... [glow=yellow,2,300]DO NOT!!! USE THE "SST PROGRAMMING SOFTWARE" THAT COMES WITH IT, AS IT IS 100 TIMES MORE DIFFICULT TO PROGRAM THAN USING SETTINGS / ASSIGNMENTS!!! [/glow]

on the base of the joystick, there are 3 (2 way) switches that you can have whatever you want on them... this is the way I had my X52 (normal) / FS9 / WINDOWS XP set up...
