System advice

Postby GatwickSpotting » Wed Nov 04, 2009 1:58 pm

Hey guys,

I have just installed FSX on my new system, but FSX seems to run so poorly, even though I have a very modern system. What could be the possible problem?

System Specs:
CPU: i7 975 Extreme Edition @ 3.33GHz
Mainboard: Asus P6T Deluxe Intel X58 Chipset
GFX: Nvidia 295GTX 1792MB of DDR3 Vidmem
RAM: Corsair 12GB (6x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz
PSU: Corsair 1000W.
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

HDD recently defragged. AffinityMask used so FSX can use all 8 cores of my CPU.

All drivers up to date. No background software running.

Any ideas? (and yes I had got SP1 SP2/Acceleration installed)

1. around 10fps at near full settings with bloom and lens flare off.
2. I use it for video editing which is why I need the high ram so it's not dedicated but it does have its own harddrive

That's a pretty awesome system. No idea what is wrong.

Try changing affinity mask to 4 cores (although I doubt that will help much).

Post screenshots of your settings here so we can take a look. That system should be able to run it just fine, but there is still a limit.

I know this might sound strange but uninstal, AffinityMask and see the results.I say this because its not the first time that program goes nuts. (i know 2 guys had the a problem)
So try that, also check your AA, Just out of curiousity what HD you have, are they at the same speed? ( i know it might sound strange but....)
Keep us posted

Found the obvious problem.

Don't think anyones system can cope with REX PMDG 747X, FlyTampa VHHX all running at the same time and trying to get good fps with FSX at 80-90% maxed.

lol.
