Urgent Help!!!!!

Postby uhntissbaby111 » Tue Jan 27, 2009 2:10 am

Ok, so i was doing a flight tonight, and during that flight, i went up to the computer to check up on the progress. and one time i got up and went to touch my joystick and i shocked it with my finger. the joystick lights flickered off then back on, and the sim paused for a few seconds and then it went back to normal. so i got up again, and it shocked again, same deal, lights went off for a second then back on, and the sim paused and then went back to normal. everything was fine, until like half an hour later when my sim crashed. i got a message from vista saying that the program stopped working. i was bummed out, but oh well, what can you do. but then like 2 minutes after the crash, i got a blue screen that said some problem and the computer restarted. upon restart, right when i am about to get to my desktop, same blue screen. i cant read it all because it restarts, but it says something about memory. so i tried a few more times, and all the same. then i restarted in safe mode and i am able to run the system. while in safe mode, i went to my control panel and went to the systems tab, and in memory, it says i only have 4gb of RAM, i should have 6. then i pressed ctr alt del, and looked at the performance tab, and it is showing 4gb of ram. so my theory is that maybe my shock killed one of my sticks of ram? i have 3 sticks, 2 gb each. is that possible? im so frustrated, i have had this computer for a little over a week and now this. any help would be greatly appreciated

i finally got my computer working again. what i did was remove one stick of ram  until i figured out which one didnt work, so now i have 2 sticks instead of 3. is it really possible that i fried of my ram sticks because i shocked my joystick? and if so, now im going to be paranoid that i ruined something else on my computer but just dont know what. this sucks

you were shocked?

Was this a static electricity shock like a quick ZAP or was it a hard shock?

Sounds to me like something is very wrong with system and possibly the ground circuit in the house if you took a real shock

No

Your tower should be grounded through the PSU AC power plug and then to the motherboard through the PSU and then the motherboard tower mounts if the house and socket it is plugged into is correctly wired

oh, ok. i mean, after the two shocks, everything was fine for like half an hour or so, and thats when it crashed. so it could just be a coincidence and maybe of my ram sticks just crapped out, but i dont see how that would happen. what i dont know, is if immediately after the shock the system only saw 4gb of ram or what. feeling really bummed out, because now i cant help but worry that something else got messed up in my computer but dont know what.

What type of joystick do you have and is it powered seperately or through the USB port?
