Random disconnecting (network)

Postby Slotback » Tue Jan 27, 2009 8:14 am

Hey guys,

Whenever i play online games such as CounterStrike: Source or Call of Duty 4 i get randomly disconnected every 15 minutes or so, sometimes it only happens when a map changes. Also it happens randomly when browsing

My brother who's also on the Network gets the exact same problem too.

I can tell when i get reconnected because in the bottom right corner it says "Local Area Connection is now Connected", it doesn't say that the cable is unplugged or it's got "Limited or No Connectivity".

I've got a 4-port Alcatel Speedtouch Pro which our computers are plugged into, The Speedtouch Pro is connected directly into what i think is the phone line.

Any ideas?

Cheers

sometimes drops like this are because of the amount of information going through the router or the ports being attempted to access and the router sees it as an intrusion and shuts the connection down

I would set up port forwarding on the router and manually assign ports for the game so the router accepts them as safe and allowed

just a guess
