Nick - XP 64 Question

Hi Nick,

If I deciede to move to XP64 is a DOS format, fresh install the way to go or is an upgrade safe??

i7 920 OC 3.8
260 video card
3 Gb tri-channel memory(for now)

Just went through it - there is no upgrade path to XP64 - must be a complete new install. I guess it's possible to do a dual boot if you wanted.

Prior to the actual install, be sure to verify that there are drivers available for your hardware and that your software add ons might have 64bit versions.

Also remember that any old 16bit programs will NOT run at all.

I found only one program that I have been using for years that wouldn't run under XP64 because it was a 16 bitter.

Other than that it was a smooth transition OS wise.

clean install for scratch and make SURE the WindowsXP x64 disk has SP2 on it and will install SP2 with the clean install, not after the fact
